The Brief
A startup founder had sketches for a new kitchen utensil and needed a physical prototype to test ergonomics and show potential investors. Speed was critical — they had a pitch meeting in 10 days.
What I Did
- Turned their hand-drawn sketches into a 3D CAD model within 24 hours
- Printed Version 1 in PLA for initial shape and feel testing
- Incorporated their feedback and delivered Version 2 the next day
- Version 3 was printed in food-safe PETG with refined ergonomics
- Total turnaround from sketch to final prototype: 5 days
The Result
The founder used Version 3 in their investor pitch and secured seed funding. They've since moved to injection moulding for production but still use JakeMakes for rapid iteration on new designs.
