Custom Electronics Enclosure

Precision-designed enclosure for a Raspberry Pi project with ventilation slots and snap-fit lid.

Custom Electronics Enclosure

The Brief

A local electronics hobbyist needed a custom enclosure for their Raspberry Pi-based home automation controller. Off-the-shelf cases didn't fit their custom HAT board, and they wanted integrated mounting points for their specific sensor array.

What I Did

  • Measured the board and all components to 0.1 mm tolerance
  • Designed a two-part snap-fit enclosure in Fusion 360
  • Added ventilation slots sized to keep thermals in check without letting dust in
  • Included mounting tabs for wall or DIN rail attachment
  • Printed in PETG for heat resistance and durability

The Result

The enclosure snapped together perfectly on the first print. The client has since ordered three more with minor variations for different sensor configurations.
